Starting October 9th, 2025, payment service providers must be ready to receive instant transfers in accordance with the EU SEPA Instant Payments Regulation.
With an instant transfer, money is transferred to the recipient in real time and irrevocably, every day of the year, regardless of the time.
During the transfer, it will be verified that the bank account number and the recipient’s name match.
The purpose of this verification is to prevent fraud and transfer errors.
Many Spanish banks have already implemented instant transfers ahead of the deadline, but some are still behind schedule. In such cases, withdrawals may fail, and we will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
